Hello Neighbor

Did you just move to Ely, MN? Are you interested in meeting new people? Then we have an amazing opportunity for you: Hello Neighbor! Hello Neighbor is a unique experience to get involved in the community as soon as you move here, but there is no time limit to apply for the benefits of Hello Neighbor. You could have just moved here last week, or maybe you’ve been living here a few months; None of that matters. What matters is community involvement and connectedness, and that’s exactly what Hello Neighbor provides!

Hello Neighbor offers new resident gift bags as a full Ely welcome, that include coupons, local resources and services, and free items from local businesses. This bag will be delivered to you by a local Elyite, who will most likely talk to you for upwards of 20 minutes about you, your hobbies, your home and your experiences that brought you to Ely (because that’s just what we do here).

Hello Neighbor also gives you the option to get paired with a local Elyite who is chosen based on your interests, hobbies, and unique questions about Ely. You can get together for lunch, coffee, or just for a nice walk around town. If there’s one thing I know about Elyites, it is that they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Being paired with an Elyite gives you opportunities to learn all there is to know about Ely from someone who knows all the tips, tricks, and fun facts about the area.

Boundary Waters Connect hosts new resident socials multiple times a year in order for Ely newcomers to meet new people! The next event will take place on October 12 at the Ely Folk School, and will include free beverages and snacks. Check out our events page for more information.

Boundary Waters Connect also hosts Tuesday Group every Tuesday at 12PM. This lunch-and-learn event takes place in the Grand Ely Lodge’s sunset room, and the employees will gladly direct you there if you have never been! This is such a great way to meet new people and learn something new from people who present at these groups. “Meet New Elyites” segments take place regularly and give you a chance to introduce yourself to everyone at the group. Don’t be surprised if a few local Elyites come up and ask more questions about you after Tuesday Group ends.
